How it sucks

The various games are fun, not too challenging but after repeated plays can become tedious. Fifteen minutes - about the time it takes to play all the games once - is enough for a day. Speech recognition is ok but handwriting recognition is problematic with the letter "I" which must be spelled as typed here or the software will recognize a different letter.

That said there are certainly several math based tasks which will probably frustrate those poor at mental math. Several tasks are just incredibly difficult. Some tasks are easy to score the max possible value on while others are very difficult to do at all.

I find this discourages me from doing those tasks which are harder which is probably exactly the opposite of what I should do. The brain age test chooses several random tasks which can dramatically alter the outcome from day to day. All said it is well worth the cost and gets the mental gears turning in ways they might not during your day to day grind.

Before buying Brain Age 2, I read about it and saw commercials for it, so I was pretty excited when I recieved it as a gift. However, the novelty wore off for me after about a month. It soon got to be too boring and tedious.

Too bad the first edition could not have been enhanced to fix the voice recognition on the colormatching, and added the newer games, instead of entirely replacing the whole thing. Brain Age II doesn't allow adding your previous scores, and have to start the whole scoring and tracking thing anew.

My biggest complaint is the Quick Soduku option which only has ONE game. They are the exact same numbers each time you play. This is not true for the main gameplay, but it is a serious flaw.

I'm not sure about the whole "brain age" concept, but at least I see myself improving! LOL I'm not sure how long this will continue to be a lot of fun, though, as it's pretty much the same thing over and over.

Normal I play a game and after a few days become tired of. This is one that not like anything else. So give it a shot you maybe very interested in this, I was spectacle that I would enjoy it but was quickly proven wrong.

It has more of the same brain trainings but with a change in some of the methods (games) that complements the original. For a second purchase, you will find yourself switching back and forth for variety. For an initial purchase, you cannot go wrong with getting Brain Age or Brain Age(2).

The only major objection I have is that I can't shut the doctor up. It gets really tiresome to have to hear his tidbits of information after every single game. It's easy enough, however, to breeze through his commentary so this is not a major issue.

They've also introduced a tetris-like mini game that's a nice diversion. The handwriting recognition seems to be better, though it's still not perfect. Cons: Handwriting recognition glitches still lead to the occasional frustration of something getting marked wrong that really isn't.

I am now waiting for one with more complex graphics and test like that have in a bar with seeing two pictures and trying to find what's different. Give it a try..

My only very small issue with this game is that your "brain age" is not determined by your training, you have to do a brain age check, the check seems to have the same games over and over again. I feel like I am getting a better brain age just because I have played the same games so many times.

I had a cerebral aneurysm in 2001 and I'm not the person I was but am hoping to be.

My son left "Brain Age" at a friend's house, never to be seen again (the game, not the son). We bought this "Brain Age 2" as a replacement, and the games are just not as appealing as the first version of Brain Age.

It would be a great application if it would quit misinterpreting my voice and handwriting. For a 'test' based on speed and accuracy this is very frustrating.

Not a terribly deep game and I'm not sure how much the little puzzles really "train" your brain. Are you supposed to be more alert? A better problem solver?

I am not a gamer by any means but when it comes to educational games, I'm for all the way.

Brain Age 2 is very much like Brain Age 1--it features the same long-winded floating head, the same music, the same format--the only thing that's changed is the specific exercises, but that's good enough for me! If you liked the original but have played it to exhaustion, then here's a way to refresh your supply of puzzles and tests.

Also, it comes with a bunch of sudoku puzzles that range from easy to hard. Also, you unlock new training games the more days you play so you can't finish it in 1 day.

A great game to boost your brain, my daughter and I make sure we spend some time on the game before we go to bed. Even my 4 year old can play with the piano game, fun, educational, challenging, thumbs up!!

The program has some trouble recognizing the + sign I use for the quick math and often turns it into another symbol. Since I can read music and play the piano somewhat already, the music portion is super easy. I also love the daily sudoku.

I am a senior citizen, and the variety of challenges really make you think. It is well worth the investment for anyone wanting to keep their mind active and alert.

The second day I played the game, I was hooked. It keeps track of what you do everyday and gives you daily tips to make the game more fun.

This is one of our first DS games and is well liked by children ages 10 and older including the adults. Great if you love number games like Soduko....makes you think.

It does! This game is lots of fun to play with all new challenges. The sudoku is, thankfully, just as outstanding.

"fast math" to add/multiply numbers in 25 seconds, that the first game offers. We miss those games.

This is sound science and is a useful tool to keep memory sharp and mental skills at a high level. my only complaint is that the nintendo DS lite that I purchased as a gift came with the case and ....

I got this for my son because he loves brain games. I love it because I use it for therapy.

My brain age is 27, and I am actually 27! The training has an abundance of games to play you just have to keep up with it. Its really fun, I highly recommend it!

So I play the games with my son. I would reccomend this game for anyone, whether your young and smart or you need practice on sharpening your brain skills.... my son is 12 and I am 50 and medicaly retired.

The scientific function of the game is never really explained. But, if you are into problem solving and puzzle games you will get hooked into this. Tons of replayability for a little price = nice!

The more you do, the more the game opens up to you, unlocking and presenting you with new challenges and new games. I'm very impressed with the DS's handwriting recognition and the voice recognition. Also has great Sudoku games, etc.
