Frankly, I never noticed any faster, improved locking into the signal with my wife's 550, despite Garmin's claims. So I'm going to go with the reviews as well as the unit I really had no complaints about, other than the wash-out factor, and pick up another StreetPilot 340. Either way, you probably can't go wrong and, moreover, are presently assured of the best value.

You can find the nearest rest stop up the road, the nearest gas station or restaurant, and it will even tell you where the KOAs and WalMarts are on your route if you are so inclined. As you go down the road, it will tell you about roadside attractions.

You won't find a perfect GPS in this price range but this one was close enough for me and so far I am very happy with it.

This Garmin is great. It is fast to lock on and even picks up signals in the bottom floor of my two story house. The speakers are loud enough to hear with the radio playing and the screen is bright.

I was torn between the street pilot series and the Nuvi, but since I had no need for an MP3 player, audio book reader or bluetooth capability (MP3 and bluetooth already integrated into my car stereo) I opted for the 530. What a fantastic GPS unit!

I have been using my 530C Garmin street pilot and have determined that I should have bought it along time ago it works very well and recommend for others to get one as fast as they can as it is dicontinued or just get the newer model 550c its more money but works as well. Final note it works so well you don't have time to get lost and if you need to eat in a town your not familar just select food and make a choice of what kind you want to eat and it take you there.
