After only the second time calling someone, their voice volume intermittently dropped so low on the phone (imagine trying to hear a mosquito's wing beat on the opposite side of a pane of glass) that I thought I had bumped a key with my face. Good to hear other reviewers had the same problem, as I still have enough time to return the phones to the store. Completely useless - the setup can't even operate as a phone with this problem - what a failure!

To top it off, sometimes the buttons stick down, which is particularly annoying when you're trying to get your bank balance, for instance. These phones are a must to avoid, just awful.

For top-of-the-line technology, they look like cheap plastic handsets from 20 years ago. I returned the item and will get something more aesthetically pleasing. This may seem silly, but if you can't stand to look at it the set won't do you much good.

But I'd give it a B. It just isn't as good as my old cordless that finally died. Also, it's not terribly comfortable on my ear, it's as if the earpiece is too small or something.

It makes the display useless. --When I'm on a phone call, the number I dialed or the caller's number is not displayed. I'm constantly multi-tasking that I forget who I dialed while it's still ringing.

And although I haven't used it and I suspect it's slightly non-intuitive, I like that it has the ability to transfer calls from one handset to another and to conference in a second handset.

They have large phonebooks for saving frequently used numbers. The access to caller id and phone book could be a little easier but we got used to it quickly. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a normal ring choice, they are songs or beeping, nothing that sounds like a regular phone.

I liked the fact that it had a headset jack, but the real deciding factor was that the handsets took regular rechargeable AAA batteries instead of those funky little phone batteries with the little plug and wires that never seem to fit anywhere. The message retrieval was simply the touch of a button, so both of us liked that. Since then I have purchased one for myself as well, and the sound is clear, and when on mute, there's no distracting beeping, so I'm happy with the phone over all.

- No "Do not disturb mode" - if this phone has this feature, I have not found it but my last phone had a button on the base to push where the phones would not ring and the answering machine would not be audible when picking up, the phone and base would only light up to signal a call coming in (so not to disturb a napping baby!) ...

We bought this phone as an upgrade and because we liked the idea of having two portable phones in the house. The old one we had did not have an answering system attached so we were using an old answering machine with it.

This phone is good, but not great. It can sound like you are talking in a tin can sometimes, but not all the time. Usually sounds pretty good.

One handset LCD arrived defective, so as I live in Brazil and there is no international guarantee coverage from Panasonic, now I have to use it broked.
