How it sucks

I'm waiting to see how much Amazon credits my account for, but they are really good about this sort of thing, so I expect a full or very close to full refund. Bottom line on this: It's junk...don't buy it! Maybe I got a lemon, but since I wasn't all that crazy about the phone in the first place, I chose to not replace it with another Panasonic.

The base phone on the Uniden just stopped working one day, so it was time to buy another set. With respect to Uniden, 3 years for a $75 phone set really isn't all that bad, and in retrospect, I should have stayed with that brand which I knew and trusted. But no, I had to experiment, and got the Panasonic garbage phone instead...much to my regret.

That sucks to try to sleep with. The Caller ID is the worst design I could think of. You can't look at it when you are making a call like if you have to look up a number half way through dialing.

This phone was a huge disappointment. I used it for one week and returned it to Amazon. Its overall functionality was acceptable.

Dialing numbers from the phonebook took a bit longer than I liked (we're back to talking about the Panasonic), and the sound quality was ok...not bad, not great, but certainly good enough to converse on. I had the phone less than one month, and it just up and died...sorta. I kept getting a message that handset was too far from base, so I could never get a dialtone, or receive a call on the phone.

But having enabled it is a nice feature to see the blinking LED when there are messages. But it isn't so nice to see the blinking message light when there aren't any messages, which happens quite a lot.

If we check our voicemail on one phone (i.e old phone), then the new phones continue to post the LED until you use the phone. The reverse is true too (old phone keeps blinking if we check on new phones). Apparently the phones check periodically for the interrupted dial tone indicating that the voicemail system has a message waiting, but once it is detected, it never bothers to keep checking.

I haven't had any problems with it but i got a replacement plan just in case, only because the previous phone i bought, of another brand, the batteries died on me after 5 months.

A previous 2.4 GHz phone would do so but the signal was always marginal - you could answer, but for an extended conversation you'd have to come into the house. When that phone was damaged, I tried a 5.8 GHz phone on sale at the local Radio Shack. It wouldn't reach the back yard at all.

Battery life is good and signal is clear, no wireless network interference and no antennas to mess with as with most 2.4 ghz models. And if you've used a Panasonic cordless before, the menu and controls will basically be familiar. The one thing its missing, and the reason I can't give five stars is that the keypad on the handsets do not light up to help with use in the dark.

But besides that I think it stinks. Even if you don't have a message there is a bright light on the handset even when it is on the hook.

I am going to return this phone and buy something else.

My only complaint is with message alert system. We have Verizon phone mail and this phone will alert you with a light to tell you that you have a message. For some odd reason, the default setting on the phone checks to see if there are messages, but you have to enable the LED alert (it defaults to off).

It does display calls received but not answered, a previous review says it doesn't. I have not used the headset option.

I ordered this phone based on the positive reviews it recieved, but the sound quality is truly terrible.

Worked fine except for one VERY important feature---neither my husband nor I could hear the person on the line. I continually asked the caller to SPEAK LOUDER PLEASE. Out went this useless phone.

After reading reviews on the dect 6.0 phones it sounded like the features are great, but the phones did not perform well. My other phone was Vtech and we were happy with it. Tried a new vtech and returned it immediately.

No dice. Not bad to just talk on but as far as extra features it's terrible.

The ring volume is either very loud, or not loud enough. There needs to be another level. We have missed several calls because we didn't hear the phone when it was on level 3 of 4.

I tried using it on 2 different jacks in my home...same problem. So for all intents and purposes, I have a dead phone. Sent it back to Amazon yesterday, and ordered what I should have bought in the first place...a new Uniden 2 phone system.

How it doesn't

This Panasonic reaches easily, with a solid signal. Voice quality is excellent, programming interface is by far the best I've ever seen in a phone - my 12-year-old programmed the handset phonebook without looking at the directions.

I love this phone! It has a sleek look and easy to read LCD screen. The phone is simple to use; I didn't even need the users manual.

My wife and I love this phone. It gets great reception and is user friendly. It is the best cordless phone that we've had yet.

We are very happy with the phones - they look nice and stylish, have great features and conversations are clear (and we're using VOIP over a DSL line that isn't the fastest). I'd recommend this in a heartbeat!

But these phones seem to do the trick. Crystal clear conversations on both ends, and the extra handset is a great bonus!!

All in all, we are very pleased with this phone. The handsets are comfortable, reception is great, volume adjustment works well, sound quality is good.

Great little phones. Lots of nice features and pretty easy to use, though for the more inane things - phone book syncing is the one that comes to mind, having the manual handy is a must. Both phone are small, light, have nice sized keypads.

The dual handset is also very convenient. The sound is clear and crisp. Panasonic phones are in general good and this one is no exception.

We use Vonage as our local and long distance telephone company, so we didn't need an answering machine. We are very pleased with the clarity of our calls with no interference from outside sources such as our microwave oven or ballasts on fluorescent lights. We can walk freely around the house without signal loss.

The handset is quite comfortable and light weight in your hand without feeling flimsy. No interference with our DSL without using line filters. Overall a great phone for the price.

I especially like the feature where I can enter telephone numbers into the "phone book" on the handset and transfer those entries to the other handsets. I'm very happy with this purchase. The interecom feature enables conversations between the two telephones as well.

Very happy. This phone is great!

Very happy with this phone. Has lots of nice features and is easy to operate.
11 months ago @ Amazon
It's easy for it to fall over if you don't put it in right. These are minor issues. These phones are great.
12 months ago @ Amazon
If you want that make sure you have the right model #. Other than those two things this is a nice phone with excellent clarity. An easy volume control(for people who talk to loud on the phone).
12 months ago @ Amazon
We have one that's over 10 years old and still is the best phone in our house. We ordered these new models and are quite happy.

I've owned this production for about a month now. It's very easy to use. Good reception and sound quality.

You can pick specific rings for phonebook entries (one normal ring followed by your choosen ring). batttery life is great.

The phone battery lasts long while off the hook without charging. I am very satisfied with this purchase and would highly recommend this phone!

An easy feature to provide and one that my original Panasonic cordless had. Not sure why Panasonic decided to go backwards in this regard.
