How it sucks

The process is that someone would send me an email in 2 days confirming a pick-up, possibly in 2 weeks and a refund 2 to 4 weeks after that. Given this is a big chunk of change, I am somewhat unhappy with the time it takes to get the money back to buy something else (it wouldn't be a Samsung for sure :)). I will update this review based on how my return experience goes with Amazon.

The first TV would turn itself off and come back on frequently. After 3 repair visits Samsung sent another TV and it wouldn't turn on at all, DOA. Amazon offered a full refund, Thanks AMAZON, but I wanted this TV to work.

There is no signal I could put into the system that burns that thin a line (horizontally) at that position on the TV. But Samsung is sticking to its guns saying that is screen burn-in and that it is not covered. The Samsung customer rep told me that 3 of 5 customers calling with similar problems are Amazon buyers.

He told me he would bring the parts that could be causing the problem. On the day of the appointment he was late, brought no parts or tools, and stayed under 10 minutes. He tried to do a software update even though the tv was new, repeated that about 8 times, then said "I don't have what I need to fix this, we'll call next week" and left.

Amazon is giving me a full refund since I never want a Samsung product again. Don't be fooled by the initial quality of this tv. It's like a shiny used car that dies 10 minutes after you drive it off the lot, and Samsung acted like a used car salesman.

Given my high satisfaction with other stuff from Amazon, I don't think Amazon is somehow buying seconds. The rep wouldn't assign any reason to explain his statistics despite me pressing him. I requested a return to Amazon.

I was thrilled with my Christmas purchase until it failed yesterday (yes, less than 3 weeks) with a dark thin horizontal line (about 4mm thick) making a permanent appearance about 2/3rds of the way down. Samsung doesn't cover such a defect claiming it is screen burn-in!!.

Buyer beware.

If you're watching something that has a static part of the screen (scoreboard, newsticker, station "bug", video game menu, etc.) , you'll want this. 3)We have the TV in a large & bright family room - our old projection TV was nearly useless if you didn't draw all the curtains.

You cannot beat it. This TV totally PWNS the set that it replaces -- a rear-projection travesty from Sony. Just make sure that you have enough room -- and if you are mounting this on a wall -- get it professionally installed -- no "hercules hooks" for this bad boy!

Obviously, on the brightest days you'll get a little glare, but the coatings are really great on the screen, and we're very pleased to be able to not be forced to watch in the dark. 4)Amazon White Glove was FANTASTIC. The day my set was delivered, the weather was snowy and icy, and I was shocked that they were keeping the appointment.

I'm constantly wiping it clean. I wish they would have used a different plastic material.

I purchased it to retire an older HDTV rear-projection set that I'd had for about eight years. I am extremely, extremely picky about televisions. The first few weeks I was somewhat disappointed in this set.

1) Price/Performance: Many people steered us toward the Pioneer Kuro, as the "pros" consistently rate this very high. The Kuro has an extra HDMI port and light sensing, but costs at least $1000 more and gives you 3" less screen. (Not even going to discuss Pioneer 65" sets, because then you are nearly double the cost of this TV, which is just silly.) The Kuro's a nice set, but in our opinion, the Samsung has a brighter, more saturated color than the Kuro, and many regular people I have spoken with agree on that.

If you are using the low-profile mount of the VMPL3, make sure you connect all the cables before mounting it. The clearance between the wall and the back of the TV once mounted is only 1.5 inch. You can see my setup in the customer image.

How it doesn't

They pressed on, and despite the trickiness of the snow and ice, set my TV (200lbs - heavy!) up nice and safe, were neat, and didn't leave any mess at all. A great experience, highly recommend this deal, folks. Enjoy your HD!

This is a sweet adjustable-tilt wall-mount bracket. You can tilt the TV up or down without any hardware adjustment or effort - so if you decide you want a different viewing angle, or you need to add/delete wires to the back of the TV, tilt the TV up and everything is accessible and within reach without ever having to remove the TV from the wall. It's a pleasure to say it's been a great experience with great products!

This is a fantastic set - it's huge so be sure you've got a room large enough to accomodate it. Too small a room and you get vertigo! Delivery was fast and setup was included in the cost.

The point of being long winded about the delivery is hopefully obvious - this is what I was most concerned about with ordering on the internet. Now to the heart of the matter - the TV is awesome...without question...15,000:1 contrast ratio says it all. A side and rear USB port with a slide-show program built-in to the TV came in handy for our family Christmas gathering...

Apparently plasmas don't have the best black levels -- and this INCLUDES the much-lauded Pioneers. Plasma and LCD just aren't up to CRT levels yet. After accepting this, I can safely say that the Samsung has one of the best pictures I've seen in a television.

Samsung FPT6374 63-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV Awesome picture in Hi-Def and excellent picture in Standard-Def. I have this set five months now and it is fantastic. I love the picture quality, the brightness, the vivid colors, The pixel shift technology that all but eliminates burn-in and the 15000-1 contrast level, Plasma TVs supposedly require watching in complete darkness, not this one, we watch in all lighting conditions and there is no degradation that we can see.

This TV is bright and has fantastic picture quality. It is very easy to setup. My XBOX360, Dish HD, and an upconverting DVD player all looked very nice.

I searched everywhere and Amazon had the best price on this tv. Best Buy and Frys in my area wanted $1500 more for it.

I received the tv within a week of ordering it...the cardboard box it came packaged in was incredible - complete with operable tabs to allow removal of the box lid permitting full inspection of the TV without cutting or ripping anything open! The delivery men opened the box for me noting none of the styrafoam securing the corners of the tv was cracked indicating the box was not dropped.

The PQ of this TV is amazing as others had said. I haven't calibrated the set but I used the default movie mode for watching movie in the dark. I wallmounted this TV using Sanus Visionmount VMPL3-B.

The box contained a soft cloth to wipe it with, but it attracts dust like crazy and finger prints show very easily.

Watching 1080p/24 material via my Toshiba HD-A20 HD-DVD player is stunning. It's a fabulous TV and is absolutely HUGE!

I loaded over 300 digital family photos onto a flash-drive and plugged it into the side of the TV and the Samsung did the rest! Nice touch!

This is our second Samsung set (the other one LCD), and we are consistently impressed with the quality and stunning picture. We did a lot of homework on this purchase, and a few points are pretty compelling:

The Samsung has a feature that shifts the pixels around every so often to prevent burn-in. This is a unique feature to Samsung, and in my house, this is a key consideration.

Works great, and looks great in my living room.
