I have had the TV for 3 weeks, it had a buzzing noise and i called customer service. Technicians came out and said the only thing they could do was to bring it back to the shop "Tear it apart" and test each individual part. I did not let them take it and called Amazon back again and I am still waiting for a call from them (4 days ago) "we will contact you within 24 hours" TV looks great, just have to wear hearing protection so the buzzing noise doesn't hurt your ears.

At this point I just want out of the deal, so I ask the customer service person to cancel the extended warranty on the TV that Amazon won't sell me. I get this story about how the extended warranty is through a second company and that I must contact them directly to cancel the order. I tried to get the customer service person to understand a very simple concept...

I expected to be told that they would be late, which would have been absolutely fine. Instead, I was told that I never had an appointment, the set never left the warehouse and that it would be at least a few days before I would get it. Not only that, I was told that they tried calling me to tell me that it wasn't going to be delivered, yet I was home all day, took no calls, and a scan of my Vonage call log shows no incoming calls.

I don't know if it goes as far as advertising fraud, but at the very least it's unethical business practices. The incompetency comes from a customer service staff that tells you a product is available when it's really not. The lack of customer service speaks for itself.

I checked the website and Amazon still had the product listed as in-stock. I used the customer service e-mail to ask why they wouldn't sell me a TV they show in stock. Also asked why they would continue to sell me an extended warranty on a TV they weren't selling me.

He helped me put the TV on the stand and patiently waited while I powered it up and made cable connections to ensure that it was functioning properly. Amazon was somewhat poor re communication. At the time of purchase an Amazon rep (via phone) couldn't really give me the specifics about the TV, i.e.

(It almost looks like blue lens flare.) It drove me up the wall and turned out to be a stupid bracket on the lens assembly that was made of shiny metal. After three weeks of phone tag with Samsung repair, the guy came over and switched the part with a matte black version.

There was a small defect on the right hand side of the screen. I called Amazon and spoke to customer service for only a few minutes to record the return. Amazon replaced it within a week.

Once they finally approved the replacement, they did not commit to delivering the replacement TV in anytime soon. Many calls to customer service over several weeks got the same response - "we dont know when we can deliver the TV & we cant do anything about it". I am still waiting for the replacement TV and it has been nearly 2 months since the DLP TV failed.

The customer service person was nice and told me that there must have been some kind of glitch in the system because the item is in stock. All I have to do is go back online and re-order the TV. I asked if she could re-order the product and was told no, the order was closed and I needed a new order number which she could not generate.

The deception is the advertising of a TV they don't have. After a week they are still listing the TV as available, so don't bother trying to order it. Keep in mind, the TV is not coming from a second party but from Amazon, LLC.

It also doesn't get along with my Logitech Harmony remote: causing weird random pauses when starting everything up, and occasionally turning my Xbox 360 back on after everything shuts down. Finally, the LEDs shut off entirely to save power when the screen is completely black, which can be annoying if the movie/game goes between totally black and almost totally black.

I called Samsung customer service, who put me in touch with a local repair shop (all under standard warranty).

On rare instances the TV does display the Blue halo/Blue smudge issue that Samsung has already noted as a common defect. The repair of the issue is about a 15 minute job and covered under warranty.

The TV failed in first week of Feb 2008. Samsung "certified" field service technician worked on the TV for 6 weeks, bringing 1 part every week to change & test. He had no idea what was wrong.

I ordered the Samsung HLT5687SAX 56" Slim LED Engine 1080p DLP HDTV along with an extended warranty. Later I receive an e-mail that Amazon has cancelled my order. The e-mail was appologetic but slightly vague in saying that they were out of stock.

So your telling me that Amazon's corporate policy is to have the Customer service department not provide customer service? Answer: "Ummm, I guess so."

Something common to all RPTVs: a limited viewing angle. The further back from the screen the less of a problem it is though. In short until plasma or LCD or some new tech comes out rear projection (RPTV) is the best bang for the buck and this is a good system.

My TV had no halo, geometery or buzzing issues. You can see the ))))))(((((( marks about 4 inches up from the bottom of the screen when up real real close but not from normal viewing distances. Combined with the Oppo 980H DVD player or Comcast HD the images are fantastic.

Overall I still found the Samsung to be a good value for the screen size and resolution it offers. I also like the idea of not having to replace lamps.

This also begs the obvious question: if I had no appointment, why would they try calling me to tell me there was a problem with my appointment? True to their final word, the set was delivered three days later, but they were three hours late for a promised 4-hour delivery window (promised delivery between 10 and 2, showed up at 5, no apology). Just once, I would appreciate it if one of these companies was true to its initial word or just told the truth when something went wrong!

3 HDMI, 2 Component, 2 Composite, VGA, and an optical audio out. The only downside of having the inputs on the side is that they are difficult to hide and the way our living room is set up makes them clearly visible. This is my second Samsung HDTV and I'm sure that my third (which I don't plan on getting any time soon) will be too.

I didn't even realize that DVDs were not HD because they looked so good. Eventually the set died, I think due to a high voltage blow out.

When I saw that it had arrived at the LA warehouse, I anticipated a phone call from Eagle arranging delivery. When no call came, I called Eagle myself and was told that I could have a delivery time for the following day between 1 and 5pm, which I accepted. Because I wanted to make sure I wouldn't be blowing a work day for naught, I called the morning of the scheduled delivery and confirmed that my set would be delivered later that day.

I bought this TV in early November and thought it would be a good idea to try out this set for a couple months before posting my thoughts on it.

The flat screens bought only 3 years ago are already dinosaurs. So if you have the money, buy one of these babys now and 4-5 years from now spend the other half you would have spent on the plasma today to get the latest and the greatest. However, keep in mind that for the picture to blow you away, and be just as good as the Plasmas, you should have it displayed at eye level.

If sitting there, the picture darkens. Most of the time, I don't sit there, so it's ok. And when I do, it's not bad, and is certainly viewable but not as good as in front of the TV.

If your room isn't configured so that you can do this (make sure your stand is the right height) you might consider plasma or LCD????????? I agree with other reviewers the sound isn't great and I would like it if there were just some type of molded eye hole in the back that I could tie the tv to the wall with picture wire. I wouldn't worry so much about it tipping over or being pushed over by one of the kids.

There is a plethora of picture & sound controls which should satisfy the most severe critic. However, when viewed in the "normal" picture mode and "music" sound mode, very little, if any, tweaking is needed when used with HDMI digital connections. For serious viewing (not news shows but musicals & movies etc.) we always use external 5.1 surround sound with optical digital connections.

It doesnt happen all the time but yet it does happen, probably the quality of the movie itself. I have read reviews on how this rivaled a pioneer pro plasma for 1. color, 2.

Sound is fine for normal viewing, but nothing dramatic.

(Purchase your hdmi cables from Amazon, they're a bargain.) It's not necessary to spend your money on the most expensive cables because with digital signals they either work or don't work, there is no in-between.

Do some research on "clear QAM" on google and you'll see what I mean, you may not need to call your cable company and "upgrade" your cable package to get HD, make sure to try scanning all the channels (use auto program) first before you sign up for an HD package and pay bigger bucks. If you also want to record this free HD, check out "eye TV" they make an HD recorder where you don't have to pay a monthly fee to record clear QAM HD signals - I haven't tried it but it looks interesting.
