Amazon refuses to even contact Samsung on my behalf because it is 2 weeks over Amazon's 30 day return policy. All I asked was that they help me out a little and ask Samsung to hurry the repair or replace this stupid piece of junk. After countless calls to Samsung, as of this writing the TV is still not repaired, they refuse to replace it, I'm paying for HD service that I don't have a TV to receive it on, and it has been over a month since this TV has worked.

My 30 day return from when I first bought the TV would be long over and by this time the price on the TV had dropped by $150. I called up Amazon and since the TV had been deemed defective by the serviceman they agreed to pick it up and give me a full refund. They've told me I will get the refund when they receive the TV.

My guess is it will. I'm asking Amazon to extend my 30 day return limit so I can avoid sending the TV back, getting a new one, and then waiting for that to be repaired. If this doesn't work for them, I think I'll just have it send back, order the new one and then I have until Jan 31, 2008 to get it repaired as per Amazons holiday return policy.

But, if you get a bad one like I did, be prepared to make a lot of phone calls and spend a lot of time going nowhere with a company that doesn't care if their products work or not once you buy them. This is the worst purchase I have ever made. I don't know if I would have had any better luck dealing with a brick and mortar store rather than online, but I don't think I will ever spend this much money again on an electronic item online.

I must say that I called Samsung that evening and they promptly put in a work order, gave me the name of the repair company and their phone number. I called the repair company the next day (they hadn't gotten the work order yet) and they were prompt in picking it up and in a week we had it back working. Apparently it had a faulty DMD Module as well as a faulty ballast power supply.

I called for repair immediately, the repairman had to make 3 visits,which took 3 weeks, and finally he was able to repair the TV, unfortunately for me the repair lasted 3 days. Called Samsung again, they refuse to replace the TV, they say I have to "give them a chance" to fix it. I said that I thought 3 repair visits and 3 weeks was chance enough.

He will get the part on Friday hopefully but I do not know when the repair will be made. What a hassle. It is still under warranty but I did not puchase the extended warranty from Amazon.

The TV is fine, but the halo completely ruins it for me -- it shows up as a blue/purple circular haze in the lower middle screen in a good number of high contrast scenes (extreme example: Harry Potter 5, chapter 2 - when Nymphadora makes her entry holding a point source light into Harry's dark room). My experience with 3 Samsung service companies in the DC area has been horrible. The first two companies Samsung customer service scheduled for me never showed up and never returned calls.

Another tip, Use a Visa Card to pay for the purchase and your warranty is automatically extended a full year through Visa. And Visa offers a 4 year extended warranty that you can purchase for much less than any I have seen. But it doesn't make sense to get the extra warranty until your other one is almost expired as they would run concurrently and you would only get an extra 2 years over the manuf.

This TV has been out of service for more than half the time I've had it. Samsung agreed to extend the warranty, which I suppose is OK,but the TV is just sitting there like a big reminder of failed technology. I'm extremely disappointed that it is taking so long to address this problem.

When I showed them the consumer alert on this site they said they know nothing about that problem. I also talked to a supervisor at Samsung customer service. She refused to assign another service company or have them perform the service at my home even when I suggested that I may have to return the TV.

Then it would not turn back on with the remote. I had to turn it back on with the button on the front of the tv. Now it will not change channels or bring up the menu or respond to any inputs from the remote or the buttons on the side of the tv.

That was a mistake. I can get the extended warranty from Samsung but it would cast $20.00 per month, $240.00 for one year. I will keep you posted after the repair has been made.

There was a problem with the cooling fan rubbing against the back of the set, which made a horrible buzzing noise, but I called Samsung and placed a warranty call and within 4 days I had a technician out to fix the problem. According to him this has been a common problem on this set and just requires a simple adjustment to the placement of the fan.

Now the thing turns on all by itself in the middle of the night or whenever. I have to unplug it from the wall to keep it from going on. I set up a repair for this tv with Samsung on Sunday and Monday the service tech contacted me and told me he had cosulted with Samsung and came to the conclusion that the circuit board failed and needed to be replaced.

The disappointment is the sound. The SRS gives an unpleasant reverb that cannot be tweaked out. White Glove shipping is a joke.

I just ordered my 4th TV from Amazon in the last month and a half! This tells you how good the customer service is here that after all my woes I still choose to buy from them. After all they did not create the defective product, the manufacturers did.

The one image defect that I see I can't be sure is due to the TV, but I'll mention it--there is a "shimmer" or varying brightness level of portions of the image, at a rate of about 2 times per second. This shimmer is barely noticeable on the same material on other TV's and in some cases is totally absent, and I have found no video settings that mitigate this annoying tendency. It seems to be exacerbated by any programs that also exhibit a back and forth "jitter" from left to right (perhaps a problem with film to video transfer issue).

Amazon won't help, Samsung won't replace the TV or take it back, I'm sitting here with this stupid 61" monstrosity sitting in the living room broken for over a month now. I suppose I have to get an attorney or something, but that will probably cost as much as the TV, so I'm stuck. So, you're forewarned, if you get a good TV as apparently many of the reviewers have, then you're lucky.

No regrets here! Amazon allowed for easy research, the price and buying experience were excellent, and the TV was delievered well within a week by curteous, prompt, delivery guys. After the delivery guys announcing that "snow is a picture" to preclude having to hook up all the audio/video stuff, we fired up the TV and it worked fine.

But after looking it in stores and read all reviews, I took my chances to buy from Amazon and I am so proud that I made the right decision. As far as TV is concerned, I was comparing this with SONY 60 inches SXRD and I find this better in terms picture sharpness, slick model, USB input and an inch bigger size. I love it!!!!!!!!!!!

With no sales tax (almost 10% here), free delivery and the best price around by far, buying it from Amazon was an easy decision. Oh yeah, I'm very satisfied with the set itself. HD looks fantastic and even regular programming is surprisingly good.

We researched quite a bit on DLP and found everything we were looking for in the Samsung HLT6187SAX 61" Slim LED Engine 1080p DLP HDTV! Right out of the box we hooked it up to HD Cable TV and have been enjoying the vivid color and outstanding detail on the better cable stations. Football is big in New England and this set brings the game bigger than life right into our family room!

With that said, the new HLT6187s (all the 87s models) seemed to be excellent and the best bargain for the cost conscious consumer like me. The next step was finding the best price from a reputable retailer. Being an avid E-commerce advocate I began researching best price opportunities with comparison shopping engines on the internet.

The Amazon price was by far the best, the delivery was prompt, and the performance is outstanding. I receive local channels over the air and am on DirecTV. The settings for over the air are excellent with that method and when I switch to DirecTV they are set for optimized viewing with that input.

The picture is much more film-like than LCD or plasma - a great touch if you're a movie fan and like the look and feel of being in the cinema. Speakers and sound are good, much better than most others. The surround sound mode really brings things to life.

Delivery was ahead of schedule and was done perfectly. We are so hooked on HDTV and thanks to our cable company, Cox Communications, we have plenty of HD programming and able to record with our DVR. Samsung really put out a fantastic set and thanks to Amazon we saved a bunch of cash over the local so-called discount stores.
