How it sucks

After a few months my daughters began to act up with the screen and not play, but if she shut it off and turned back on it would be fine. Then a few months later nothing, it quit all together. Then a few months later my sons quit working too.

After only a few hours of use, they just froze, then the display just went blank and could no longer use it. The reason I bought it in the first place was because I didn't want to jump on the ipod band wagon. Well, after my experience with this hunk of junk I did, and I am very happy with my Ipod nano.

The backlight is first to go, making it difficult to navigate in the dark. Then cascade failures happen, and the player freezes and becomes nearly useless until a new battery is installed. Recently, my hungry little Sansa ate my ENTIRE LIBRARY OF SONGS.

After that the power would come on, but it would not boot up beyond the brand name screen. My Omnitech player with the same memory capacity and features for less than half the price is still going strong. I would not buy another product from SanDisk again.

by far the worst system to work work in terms of setting up a playlist. But, it does properly synch the playlists to the device.

i don't like how quickly the device turns off when on pause. about a minute i think then it shuts off. it then takes 20 sec to turn back on but it does remember where you were in the song which is handy.

The forward and backward speeds were very slow, not good for audiobook play. The recording volume is low. It broke in 1.5 years, so I cannot use the warranty.

However, I am on my third one; other two were replaced by SD; the display stopped functioning.

The firmware update is also useless as I currently have the latest version, and SanDisk has yet to resolve my problem (it's been four weeks already). Their customer service department is less useful than a case of syphillis. They tend to ignore you and your problems, their way of saying "Thanks for buying our product." I've not been able to solve this problem myself at this time.

He had to buy something to replace it. Mine is still going, but I use it infrequently. Did not feel good about paying so much for something that didn't last at least a couple of years.

The interface is interesting. The songs are listed alphabetically, by song title, but can be broken down into artist/album/etc. However, if your MP3s are not listed properly, the m250 will scatter them about your playlist like so much confetti.

My old player added the files on as you copied them, but lacked the "nifty" subdirectories. But it still allowed me control as to what I wanted to listen to when I wanted to. You can't delete the songs on the fly, but have to do so when the player is plugged in.

This player does not support bookmarking of audio books except those purchased through Audible. This means that this player is not suitable for listening to many audio books.

Good products, not as user friendly in terms of creating playlists, but other than that, seems like a budget friendly product (with a year warranty included).

It lasts about 19 or so hours ideally, but the more songs you have on it, and the longer the backlight is on drains the battery faster. I usually never have more than 100 or so songs on it, but I'll pile more on if I was going somewhere. On the surface it seems adequate, but I have more than a few complaints, though.

However, it did not take very long for my friend's player to break down - in just a few months. He used it every day, but then that's to be expected for such equipment.

would be better if this one could be charged via USB on your computer. but it takes a AAA battery and only lasts a few hours. i don't know the exact number.

The only issue is that it does not navigate easliy. But it serves the purpose for the price.

Sometimes these membrane areas don't respond and the A-B function I bought this unit for?; fugget about it! It's very difficult to isolate small segments of music with the new membranes. This is very important for me to learn a piece of music by ear.

That is, if your player doesn't do so first (see below). The battery usage is buggy too. If the battery gets too low certain functions stop...

How it doesn't

The SanDisk Sansa M250 is at best, a middle of the road MP3 player. I purchased this bugger shortly before the holidays as a little gift to moi, wanting an upgrade of my older, crappier 512mb player (of which I had infinite trouble, but I digress). I saw it had 2GB, and thought to myself, "Alright!" Some people complain "Aw, man!

While shopping around in our small town, not having a large selection to choose from and the prices being very high for an MP3 player, we decided to check online, shopping around there. What we found from your store was superior and much better priced. Our daughter was very happy with her birthday present and we thank you!

Very easy to use and operate. Very light weight. Not a huge fan of the case it comes with but purchased a separate silicone case from here and love it!

I purchased two of these for my son and daughter last year for Christmas gifts. At first they were fine, easy to use (these were our first mp3 players)and they really enjoyed them.

The radio is a great feature. It is very easy to use and at the price it can't be beat. Have had no problems.

While I enjoy the increased memory for more music and the recognition of more file types, I miss the old buttons I had on my 512.

For those worried about size, 2GB is more than enough.

I bought two of these as gifts. Good deal. I paid less than $40 for each and this price was a steal.

This is my first MP3 portable player. I was a bit concerned about getting it loaded, ease of use etc. The device simply plugs into your computer USB port-open your Windows Media Player-SanDisk asks if you want to transfer content to it.
