How it sucks
click term for excerpts - most relevant excerpts first10 months ago @ AmazonI ended up having to return them both for a refund. Neither one would stay connected to the computer long enough for the computer to recognize it so that I could load it. It was very frustrating and disappointing.
9 months ago @ AmazonI loved this little MP3 player until it died after only 2 months. You get what you pay for, I used it around 30 times, that boils down to $1 per work out. Not bad I suppose, but I won't be buying another one (boohoo!) I am sad it did not work out, it was awesome while it lasted, but frustrating when IT WON'T TURN ON!
10 months ago @ AmazonI have a replacement 2GB that I bought last week through Amazon and it works perfectly and the battery does hold a charge. Sandisk has a few quality control issues regarding the battery (just check the Sansa Clip message boards on the company website) but this is a minor issue at this price point. Just return the product for an exchange or refund.
9 months ago @ AmazonI liked the unit while it worked but after it sat for 2 weeks while I was away, it stopped working...dead battery. I have put it on charge for 3 hours and it still doesn't work.
10 months ago @ AmazonThe player remembers where you left off unless you switch to FM then turn it off. This is somewhat annoying, particular if you are on shuffle, since it starts at the beginning. I found that if you pause the MP3 play, then go to FM, then return to MP3 before turning it off you have the option "play previous" which picks up where you left off.
10 months ago @ AmazonThis is my first portable MP3 player, so I can't make any comparisons to other products, but I was very disappointed to find that the battery drains even when the unit is powered down and it goes totally dead in less than a week. Makes it kind of useless in my book!
10 months ago @ AmazonAlso, I have found a couple times that if you have been listening to it a while and pause it to take a phone call or something long enough for it to go to sleep, when you turn it back on, it has a tendency to try and play the same group of songs it played after you turned it on the LAST time you listened to it. It's not that big of a deal because you just skip through the ones you just heard and then it gets back on track again. Overall, I love it and would recommend it to anyone who wants the new music technology but doesn't want to break the bank to have to buy it.
9 months ago @ AmazonThey were bundled in a plastic tube and reminded me of a headphone cigarette. I have generally only had lower quality headphones like the Sony's that came with my PSP, I have a pair of JVC marshmellows that I used instead for the first few days, but found myself constantly adjusting them inside my ear canal for comfort and I started wrapping the wire behind my ears to stop the vibration sound from the cord brushing on my shirt. They reminded me of a stethoscope.
12 months ago @ AmazonI bought the 1GB Zen from Creative right after Christmas, but when I saw this little jewel for the same price, I returned the Zen back to the brick & mortor store and purchased the Clip from Amazon. And I haven't regretted it since. This player seems to be built rather solid to me in spite of what some of the others said and the battery lasts longer than the Zen too.
10 months ago @ AmazonHowever, when I drug the files to the trash and tried to reload it with new songs, it did not delete them off the MP3 player, so I had no visible files in my Music folder, but half of my space was still used up. I reset and reformatted it, and it took care of it. This may be an annoying problem.
10 months ago @ AmazonI had to return this after a week because the battery would drain completely if it merely sits unused for a couple of days.
10 months ago @ AmazonTech support is good though: I called and I was given directions to get it working again. A few times I've had some of the information in the tags disappear -- which isn't good since the tags are the only way to find things in the player. When I tried plugging it into a DVD player that has a USB port, it could not find anything that was on the clip, even though it was able to play files from all my other mp3 players.
10 months ago @ Amazon(For those of you who aren't near a computer a lot, I hear you can get car and wall adapters for it, but haven't used any of those so can't comment on how well they work) - Great sound for an inexpensive player. I personally like the ear buds that came with it just fine, but if you can always change them out for a pair you like better if they don't work as well for you.
12 months ago @ AmazonI do not give it 5 stars because it is not as sturdy and well-built as an ipod. It looks very nice but it is very fragile. This is expected because Sansa needs to make money to stay in business, isn't it.
10 months ago @ AmazonGreat because I already have quite a few songs on my computer that iPods wouldn't have allowed without reformatting or having to pay to replace all of them with the appropriate file types. Who wants to pay extra when you already have the files on hand? - Files are transferred by dragging & dropping (or copy & pasting) directly from one folder to another.
11 months ago @ AmazonThe best thing is that you don't have to mess with any new software - a feature I was looking for after having poor experiences with my son's Samsung. It also has features not available in the comparably prices ipod shuffle. My clip is only 1GB, which is enough for me.
9 months ago @ AmazonIf you are ok with a short romance then buy it, if you don't want your heart broken, get something else.
12 months ago @ AmazonYou dont know if it's in stock or not? C'mon. Bought the item elsewhere for more because it was a Xmas gift.
12 months ago @ AmazonVolume too loud for adult ears, had to turn down all EQ settings. EQ does not work on FM radio, so it's always too loud.
9 months ago @ AmazonOK, but not the 15 advertised. Getting around the menus and figuring out what buttons to push can be a bit confusing at first.
How it doesn't
click term for excerpts - most relevant excerpts first13 months ago @ AmazonSmall, light, easy to use, hard to accidentally turn on or off, great-sounding, with a bright screen and built-in clip -- the Sansa Clip meets all my needs better than most mp3 players and at much lower cost. The earbuds provided with the Sansa Clip are serviceable, but I use separately-purchased in-ear buds (V-MODA Bass Freq Earbuds - Bling Bling Black), since they help reduce the competition from gym noise. The combination is terrific.
9 months ago @ AmazonI am totally happy with my decision so far. I like the menu for navigating and playing songs, and find the display to be perfect as it is bright and easy to read. I think the sound is excellent as I have been experimenting with different equalizer settings.
10 months ago @ AmazonI was pleasantly surprised after it arrived as soon as I turned it on. It is very easy to navigate and I like the backlit lcd blue dispaly. Loading songs is as easy as plugging it in to your computer through the USB port.
12 months ago @ AmazonThe voice recorder is fun too. We aren't able to get many radio stations here, so we haven't checked out the FM part yet. The Sansa is super small and the clip is a great included feature.
11 months ago @ AmazonAlso, I was looking for something small I could use in the gym. The Clip works great for this purpose and you don't need any armbands or other accessories - the clip works great or you can just stick in your pocket. Finally, I was pleased that I could download podcasts from my favorite pastor.
10 months ago @ AmazonThe other one was "borrowed (permanently)" by my wife. Just as most reviewers have said: this is an excelent mp3 player with fm tuner and recorder. It can hold over 500 WMA songs!!
12 months ago @ AmazonI bought this for my husband to use at the gym. It is an awesome little player and I will be ordering one for myself. It's easy to use and has terriffic sound quality.
10 months ago @ AmazonThe player is 1gb and so far I have 107 songs at 128 bit or better. That's about 3/4 full for the drive. If you drop to 96 bit you can add more but 107 songs is quite a few and I use MS Media Player to swap songs in and out.
10 months ago @ AmazonProduct has long battery life, easy file transfer, FM radio works great, very small and light. It is exactly what I was looking for.
12 months ago @ AmazonThe screen is very handy and the sound quality is great especially for the price. I chose the 1 GB over 2 GB because I don't need an extensive song library.
10 months ago @ AmazonI got this because of the OLED display (and the low price). The tiny screen is amazing! It is a beautiful display: very sharp and clear.
10 months ago @ AmazonThis one exceeded my expectations !!! I was able to install a large amount of music for my daily walks, and still have over 1/2 the storage left. This model is Super Easy to use !!!
9 months ago @ AmazonI bought this gor my boyfriend like a month ago n he loved it, he carries it everywhere and told me it was thebest gift ever. he even records radio programs so he could listen later in the day.great product
10 months ago @ AmazonWhat a fun little gadget!! I wanted a cheap mp3 player to clip on while I run (I run in the rain a lot) and this thing works great!
13 months ago @ AmazonSanDisk makes some of the best MP3 players for the price, and they manage to do so without skimping on audio quality. Remarkably, you can find the 2 GB version of this player at one of the big blue box stores for $44 right now, which is an even better deal.
12 months ago @ AmazonThe sound quality is excellent, both with its included earbuds and the lightweight over-the-ear Sony headphones I prefer. Recharging and synching with Audible Manager on the computer is also very convenient -- just plug the short USB cable into a convenient USB port, say on the monitor.
9 months ago @ AmazonSmall and relatively easy to use, this MP3 player works wonderfully for music. I use mine simply for shuffling my music so I can listen while driving or jogging. I use windows media player to sync instead of the drag and drop method for speed and ease.
11 months ago @ AmazonI got this MP3 for my sister for Christmas. She loves it. She records her favorite new songs off the radio all the time, and loves that it is so small and has the clip feature.
12 months ago @ AmazonI love this little player, it works great, takes up no room at all, recharges from empty in a couple of hours and holds at least 4 of my audiobook selections at a time and some music without any trouble. I understand it comes in a 2gb version as well, so if you need more space go for it, but if you are looking for inexpensive and fantastic, this is it.
12 months ago @ AmazonThis mp3 player is small in size but packs a punch for the music lover at a great price! Easy to use and quick to drag and drop your favorite songs.
