How it sucks

I called bright and early and was told that we could go grocery shopping and Eagle would call us when the television reached our city. At noon we had still not received a call, so, we called them...they told us that our TV was in there warehouse but we could not have it delivered until the 10th as all of there drivers were busy until then! This was after we were told we would have it on the 5th and I took off of work.

I ultimately settled on the W3000 from a local store so I could return it if I was disappointed after viewing it. I never once considered returning this thing as the picture quality is phenominal (on HD and good quality SD feeds).

From my careful study of this "dead pixel" issue, it is common to find a dead or stuck pixel and there is even an acceptable amount considered as industry standard. I'm not 100% sure of how returns go when ordering with Amazon, but it is important to consider these issues when buying such an expensive item. Under most return policies, you can return a tv for exchange within 30 days...

The remote is unusually long and is okay but unfortunately isn't a learning remote. There is only one s-video input - would have wished that the input on the side was a s-video for legacy components. A great feature is the sound boster bias (not the steady sound) where different inputs can be manually biased.

Albeit not as sharp as the tube, but still damn good. Opted to spend a couple hundred more and buy this from a big box store, was just too worried about getting a bad copy and the pain of a return.

I spent about a month trying to decide between Plasma and LCD. Decided on the LCD..the burn in issues chilled me to the Plasma... I know they say it's no longer an issues but with the warrnaty and extended warranty not covering it if it occurs I decided on the LCD.

I do miss the Picture-in-Picture feature.) DVD is acceptable, I realize it's still sending widescreen format inside a 4:3 ratio, unless I zoom it but the picture quality suffers and I lose space for the subtitles. Now I'll just have to get a HD DVD player. HD or Blue-Ray?

We did not like the design of the XBR series but wanted similar technology. W-series delivered and incredible picutre, but after 1 week, we noticed a few dead pixels which began to slowly spread. Manufacturing defect which sony says is very uncommon.

The biggest "plus" is Amazon's 30-day daily refund everytime the price decreases. As of today, we have been credited $118.70 and we still have a couple of weeks to go!

My only dissapointment has been that connecting all these components with our cable box has been more confusing and frustrating than expected.

The stand does not pivot unlike the the V2500 series. The QAM feature works very well although it took 30 minutes to scan all the channels. The PnP feature seems to work okay, but it requires a RF input and can't do multiple hi def inputs.

Purchased on 11/27 and arrived on 12/4 after Eagle called and scheduled delivery next day. Date of manufacture is Oct 2007 and made in Mexico. I'm no expert on PQ and haven't had a chance to play with all the HD inputs so am going to skip that - besides, there are a bunch of folks on this thread who are more into that.

The only issues I have so far is that Comcast HD cable is not all it's made out to be. The HD channels are great when they braodcast true HD but have the annoying habit of sendng HD signal in 4:3 format often...

I called them on Dec. 4th to verify this with someone in management and told them I would be taking the 5th off from work to be home to accept the delivery.

The Lack of LED backlight means some uneven lighting during dark scenes and fading to black. Turning off "Gamma" and "Clear White" in advanced picture settings has helped minimize occasional graininess / screen noise with varying shades of black. Also, LEDs last longer than fluorescent backlight but by that time I've already upgraded.

Sound quality is also acceptable, the surround sound is good but bass is not effective enough, but I love the voice booster feature. (We have a Sony home theater system that we swear by when watching DVD.) Viewing distance is not a problem, we have about a 10' distance but 6-8' is still okay, but perhaps not for long-term.

Those came out and I started doing live compares and reading the posts and reviews on various sites. It became apparent that a) the non-120Hz sets are doing very well with motion blur these days and b) 120Hz doesn't really help with motion blur to any noticeable extent (but adds a lot to the price). I argued with myself for a long time but decided even though 120Hz felt like "insurance" on image quality there just wasn't evidence to really support it.

Strange that there isn't a way to continuously show the clock by cycling display, but not a big deal. Just used to that feature on other Sony tv's.

So beware the Eagle Shipping but definately buy the Bravia!!!

but why should I have to when I pay over $150.00 a month for cable. And don't even get me started about the quirks in the motorola DVR.

How it doesn't

I am so glad I did the picture is great on the HD channels and by far the best I've seen for the non-HD stations. It was unpacked and set-up in less than 30min. The Amazon price of $2,499.00 beat all others and with free shipping and no tax I saved about $300.00 over all.

If you are on the fence on this set or delivery don't worry. The set is great and the delivery beats taxes and charges

We fell in love with Bravia when we looked at it side by side against all the other brands in the stores - the picture is amazing, and 52" was just the right size for us. The large number of HDMI inputs made this easy to integrate into a full blown HD solution. Simply a fabulous TV!

Sony Bravia KDL-52W3000 52" 1080p LCD HDTVI had purchased Sony KDL40V2500 for my study room for almost one year and am very happy about the quality of the Sony LCD TV - no problems so far. Now I don't watch any non HD programs. We have to replace the old 46" analog TV set with HDTV in the family room.

After doing a lot of research and hitting all of the local electronic stores I went with the 52" kdl52w3000 SONY this TV is great! The picture is outstanding, plenty of HDMI inputs. Best feature is the remote and the flexibility to customize the picture with all of the advanced settings.

I,m happy with the free terrestrial digital SD and HD reception I get from local stations. This TV will pulls in analog signals as well as digital and the sensitivity is excellent.

Sports are great and the honeymoon is just beginning. Amazon had the best price (by far) and the shipping was faster than expected. Kudos to Amazon!!!

We did lots of research on both Plasma and LCD TVs before finally realizing that our family room was too bright for a reflective plasma screen. Sony is a great TV brand and I went to the local electronics stores and compared this TV to all the other 52 inch LCDs.

Awesome TV and great service. The TV arrived in perfect condition and everything went great.

By no means a perfect large screen LCD HDTV, the KDL-52W3000 delivers a powerful punch with excellent value, above-average picture and sound, plenty of connectivity options, and lots of setting options for those who like to tinker with electronics to set personal preferences.

to the airport and had to load a 52' television into our van and drive it home and set it up ourselves!!! This was Eagle's "White Glove " treatment.

Finally, the channel switching was fairly fast and responsive. Overall, we're happy with the set and like the look a lot better than the XBR floating glass added weight.

As one review I read some time ago said, the PQ on these sets is so high you can find yourself glued to the set watching some show that is of absolutely no interest to you but which has great HD imagery. I've kept following AVS posts on the main brands I considered and on the whole the W3000 maintains a strong positive set of feedback. I recommend it without hesitation.

But I finally settled down on this 52" LCD one because it takes much less space in depth and the price has dropped to my comfortable zone (a few hundreds more than the real-projection ones). I also bought the Sony SUFL300L stand - they match very well!.

When my wife and I finally received the Bravia (shipping horror story to follow)and hooked it up, with great ease, we turned it on and placed "Nature's Colors" in our PS3 (both purchased from Amazon!). As the Blu Ray disc loaded we stood back and watched our new Bravia come to life. The colors were more vibrant than an Autumn in Wisconsin!

Like most informed consumers, I did lots of research online and visited local stores to compare different brands. I decided on mid-tier models for heavy-duty family room viewing and narrowed down to the Sony KDL-52W3000 and Sharp LC-52D92U. The Sharp has better contrast, black shade levels, and 120Hz refresh rate while the Sony has better color and stock audio.

I purchased this for my husband for Christmas and really debated on the price, thinking this is a TV, for goodness sake. I was overwhelmed with all the research to do, whether to go Plasma or LCD, sizes, brands, etc. Well, I think I made a great choice.

We love the picture and the sound quality. We weren't sure at first if we should spend the extra $$$$ & go with the XBR but for the money, the Bravia is an excellent buy and so far we are very happy with it. My sister purchased the XBR 40" less then a year ago & already had to replace the circuit board.

Connected to a PS3 as a Blu-Ray source, the color and detail is simply stunning. I keep watching Ratatouille with my kids simply to take in the visuals. Highly recommended!
