The screen was scratched almost immediately, and for some reason they've greatly decreased the continuous video recording time to 10 mins.

My canon SD630 lasted double or triple that. The photos look fine, nothing amazing. The camera is a bit bulky and I'm probably going to return it.

The flash (I call it a peanut popper) is good for about 8' to 10'. After that, since light falls off rapidly, it will not illuminate an auditorium at school or theater. In those instances you may have to accept grainy smeary pictures in lieu of no picture.

Note that the Sony did take very good outdoor pics, but most camera's do. I liked the special features of the Sony, although the menu system was terrible. Regardless, if it can't take decent pictures, who cares?

If you want just a "point and shoot" camera, still use the "P" scene mode or perhaps try the Canon or Nikon. Make sure you purchase your camera from a store that allows a reture privilege regardless of the brand you buy. You do not have to be stuck with a product you do not like.

The cards aren't too overpriced, but I didn't know that going into it. My only complaint with the camera (and I am in no way a professional photographer) is the menu layout. They aren't as intuitive as I would have liked, it takes a few more taps on the screen to view your recent photos than it should.

If you want a camera for convenience and simplicity this is it, but I warn you the picture quality is very poor.

Cons: Battery life limited. Noise and quality not very good above ISO 600, a bit pricy, but the T70 offers much of the same features for less $$$$. I would definitly recommend a "buy" rating, but be aware you have to think for the camera.

Do not use "Vivid" or other in-camera settings (do your adjustments in software). Use Auto only in daylight settings. The grainy, smeary pictures in low light are in auto mode, with an ISO of about 800 or more.

But to my shock, the pictures are very grainy and appear distorted. The colors are not natural either.

Our previous camera was a Sony & except for the size & some battery charging issues it still works well. The Sony rep had me go to *Home *settings *Main settings *Initialize & reset it to factory settings (something I had not changed).
