How it sucks

When I later went to take them out, I had noticed that one of the ear buds had broken in half, exposing the innards of the headphones and rendering them useless. I contacted V-Moda since it was under warranty, and they did replace the pair after I paid for the postage to ship them back the broken pair and explain what happened. The problem is that the replacement pair broke in the exact same way again within a month or so.

I am assuming that there is something wrong with these. I contacted Ace Photo and Digital (Amazon's merchant rep for this product) to return them. They told me that I could not return opened merchandise...obviously I could not have listened to the earbuds without opening them!

3) The wiring quality looks a little tougher than the SONYs, but we will have to wait and see how they hold up...as I noted in my SONY review on the MDR-EX71, the quality of the wiring jacket sucks and the reason for the change of manufacturer. 4) Length of cord is good - but a little too long for my tastes. Good to have a cord wrap to tighten up the loose wiring.

For the money I was expecting better quality after several months they stopped working as well, then I could only get playback in one ear. They are a cut above the cheapest earbuds and they do stay in pretty well unless you are jumping up and down. I was disappointed but not surprised.

These earbuds defiantly hold up to title description and are better then the same price you would pay for apples version. I have a ipod and i also paid a lot of money for apples version of earbuds, while they were significantly louder the thin silicon ear cups were disappointing in holding themselves inside my ear as i worked out. Even more so they were too fragile when the cord got disconnected and i was left with just one working ear bud.

At that point, I had enough, and didn't even bother trying to go through the whole process of trying to get them replaced by V-Moda. The only pro I got out of them was I was able to take the silicon fittings for the V-Moda ear buds and use them on my old Sony ear buds, which have lasted MUCH longer, and maintain the benefits I listed earlier about V-Moda's silicon fittings. So there you have it, the V-Moda Bass Freq is a fine product for the buck on the surface, but underneath, the quality of its construction is extraordinarily poor and may end up being a wasted purchase.

I bought these to replace my old JVC earbuds that after two years of heavy use and wear and tear have all but given out. The sound is good and the bass is better than average; however, I wouldn't advertise them as sound isolating and the "modawrap" seems unnessecary seeing as how the cord is only a couple feet long (which was another disappointment for me, my old JVC buds had a cord at least twice as long, which was nice for listening to music on my computer without disturbing others around me). Overall I'd say they're okay, not great, but not a bust either.

Luckily the Tekserve folks allowed me to exchange it; apparently it happened so often V-Moda should call it a package design defect. Also, the silicon plugs keep getting pulled off so I keep losing them. My left earbud finally stopped working after 14 months of use, and I used them only once a week.

Off course, if you are looking for real noise isolation, these aren't going to be enough, but it delivers enough for the average person who wants more than the crappy ipod earbuds. The sound quality was good, but unfortunately for bass lovers like me, at lower volumes there is not as much bass as I expected according to other reviewers. Its certainly more than the ipod earbuds and other cheaper headphones, but I try to think of music like rock to have 2 layers of bass.

The problem was that after six months of normal usage (commuting via subway daily), one ear stopped working entirely. I came to find out that these earbuds use notoriously thin internal wires that are prone to breaking when flexed. With a little research there are alternative earbuds with great bass definition in the same price range that have better durability.

Before, I was using the headset that came with the IPOD; which I thought wasn't too bad but some great sound was missing. So, when this headset finally became defective, I had the opportunity to find another one. After trying a couple of mediocre headsets, I checked the internet for some recommendations, and most of the positive remarks went to V-MODA.

For me these were a waste of money. The sound is tinny and washed out. The bass isn't that great either.

I bought it twice since I thought the first pair was just bad. The same happened to the second pair - one of the ear bud stopped working for no reason after a few weeks.

For me these buds feel fine and comfortable and it blocks outside noise compare to other cheap earphones that I have tried in the past. According to some of my friends that tried these out, they've complained that they were uncomfortable. Other than that, I would of gave these 5 stars if they didn't feel so thin and flimsy.

I won't ever purchase these again. In fact, the same day I bought them is the same day I'll be returning them. I'm so disappointed.

I bought a pair of these early october to replace the standard iPod earphones. I ended up returning them for a pair of Shures, but thought they were decent. Sound:

A week or so later the left channel went out too. Order date: 10/8/07, right channel failure date: 11/21/07, left channel failure: 11/29/07. Unless you see headphones as part of a disposable 2-month cycle, I would purchase something else.

I buy these V-MODA and not only does the black color match my black ipod but they were cheaper and work better. The silicon cups are thicker then apples and hold way better, i switched from the small to medium size and hardly move; also due to the thickness it locks out outside noise better.

I purchased a pair of the V-Moda Bass Freq in Bling Bling Black in September 2007 and was initially very pleased with the product. Reviews that awarded praise for its booming bass (perhaps too booming for certain audiophiles) and overall good sound quality for the price ($30-40), compared to like products, were spot on. After owning multiple pairs of Sony MDR-EX51LP Fontopia Headphones with silicon fittings that would repeatedly fall off and get lost I was very happy to not experience that with my new V-Moda ear buds.

They also did a much better job of blocking out noise than my previous Sony ear buds, and were clearly louder, which meant less need to turn up the volume on my iPod and waste battery. As someone who lives in NYC and takes the subway where this is a huge factor, as I would often have to jack up the volume to full to even hear music clearly (and I do not have hearing loss). So, it seemed like the perfect purchase, but that was to change much sooner than anyone could expect.

How it doesn't

The V-moda people have out-done themselves. These earbuds offer great bass and also have very clear mids and highs. i am extremely happy with this product and strongly suggest this product to everyone with an ipod!

The V-MODA ear buds are some of the best I've listened to for about $25. The sound quality is excellent and the storage holder makes keeping the line tangle free helpful. Having three different ear cushions helps find the perfect fit for each individual.

They fit into the ear effortlessly and remain completely comfortable for long periods of time. They seal off enough ambient noise that I am able to listen to music with little problem while my wife watches television. With respect to sound quality, at home I often use Sony MDR V-6's, an excellent sound studio quality set of over-the-ear headphones.

Yes, you need to use your equalizer to get the best sound. The three different size silicone ear inserts are a must for the big bell curve of humanity. The cord is only about 45 inches long and the included modawrap is made of a nice pliable rubber.

I have been thru a few different sets of earbuds. I ride a motorcycle and these are by far the best set of earbuds Ive used yet. Very comfortable fit, and great sound for those long rides, absolutely no wind or engine noise could be heard.

I love great sound to match great music. Of my vast headphone and earbud collection, these are among my favorite. The highs are crisp, the mids are full, and the bass is deep and rich.

These headphones outperform the Ultimate Ears headphones by far in my opinion. I definitely recommend these headphones for anyone who loves bass. Very nice bass response, good mids and lows for being bass headphones.

After more research I ordered and received a pair of V-Moda Bass-Freq earbuds. Finally I had found what I was looking for -- high enough maximum volume for my needs, earbuds that fit neatly in my ear canals and stay there and a really rich sound spectrum, including, as the name implies, a satisfying bass level.

These are awesome, I just threw away my ipod factory buds. V-Moda buds are 100% better than factory buds. They fit great, look stylish and OH yes...have great sound.

The bass of course is great, and while the sound spectrum is (bass)limited - if your MP3 has a graphic equalizer: you will be fully satisfied!

These far exceed my expectations. I love them. A Co-worker has the bose earbuds and they are definitely comparable.

After reading and comparing reviews, I bought a pair of these for my girlfriend. She is very picky and finds most earbuds uncomfortable. She absolutely loves these earbuds and listens to her ipod all the time now.

I am pretty much happy and satisfied with these earbuds because of its good sound, good value, and fast shipping from the seller.

I like that these earbuds are small and have three different size ear canal cushions that you can change to adjust fit and comfort. But mostly I'm blown away by the sound quality at this price point. This is the best sound for this price.

These earbuds are very good for the price, if you're thinking of a more comfortable pair to replace your stock iPod earbuds, these are great. They're comfortable, stay in my ears, and sound great...with lots of brain-thumping bass.

These earbuds are phenomenal! I have never heard a better set of earbuds, and I am a semi/professional percussionist, so I have been exposed to a lot of audio equipment. If you love bass or just desire equal sound output throughout a wide frequency range, then you will definitely be pleased with this product.

Bought these to be able to listen to XM Radio while I ride my old Suzuki. Test drive was 3 days down the east coast and I was very pleased.

These are the best sounding earbuds I have ever heard. The bass is great. I even converted my son from his Sennheisers.

Be that as it may, the great price and reviews of those who said they sounded as good as buds costing much more made me decide to give them a shot. I cannot stress enough the importance of testing the earbuds with all three sets of supplied fittings. It is incredible how differently they sound with the different sizes.

This is the best V-Moda earbuds out of the whole lineup. The price was just under $30 and the sound was like OMG when i first plug it into my ears! I first bought the more expensive V-Moda chrome edition which cost almost 70 dollars and i thought it had to be the best because of the price.
