How it sucks
click term for excerpts - most relevant excerpts first12 months ago @ AmazonOK, So I bought this game with the idea that I was buying a remote with an inexpensive game. And somehow this still qualifies as the worst video game purchase I have ever made; the games are short and boring. I played all 8 games thinking they were a warm up for the real game, and they ended up being the whole game, it took like 10 min.
12 months ago @ AmazonThe worst game is table tennis. It is difficult to control--to the point of frustration. If you are looking for a more engaging game for all age groups, I would try Wii Degree: Big Brain Academy.
12 months ago @ AmazonIf you have normal games like Mario & Sonic at the Olympics, w/ good graphics, good controls and a lot of depth, why waste your time on this? I have this 2 stars because it comes w/ the extra remote.
12 months ago @ AmazonThis game sucks. The mini-games are completely boring and not worth 10 dollars at all. Just buy a seperate Wii-mote.
12 months ago @ AmazonThis game is very lame. The fishing is fun, but aggravating when playing with another because of being in the way of each other and having the game show you every catch you and your opponents make, stopping the game in the process. The only reason I gave this three stars is because, like others have stated, it comes with the remote, so for about $10, this game is worth that, but no more.
12 months ago @ AmazonThe controls on this are TERRIBLE. A couple of the games are completely for toddlers. The other games like ping pong is ridiculous, the controls on it are terrible and the pool is idiotic w/ terrible controls also.
10 months ago @ AmazonThere are 2-3 good games on here, such as the Duck-hunting, but the rest are pretty lame, such as the findMii etc. All in all though, not bad value.
12 months ago @ AmazonI bought this since I needed another Remote, and figured I'd get a game along with it for 10$ essentially. I expected Play to be an extension of Sports, and for $10, you get what you pay for. The shooting game is fun, as is Pool, the Rodeo game, and Fishing, but this is definitely a very short, limited (2 player only) multiplayer game.
12 months ago @ AmazonIt is definately not worth buying. Only one fun game exists on the disk, and that is the shooting range. The rest of the game is quite terrible.
12 months ago @ AmazonThe game is not very challenging, but the variety of mini games is good for an introduction to the Wii. Wii Play is appropriate for any age group, but younger childern and adults alike will easily be bored by the lack of depth or complexity found in pool, cow racing, shooting, or shape matching.
12 months ago @ AmazonOthers are a little goofy or worse, but oh well. Besides, it does come with the remote (which evened us out to four) so is worth it for that!
11 months ago @ AmazonIt was not possible to get it otherwise. So this is the whole idea for the bundle. As for the game itself - a collection of nine mini-games and there is nothing to write home about.
9 months ago @ AmazonI bought this instead of just buying the remote separately. It worked out to be around $10 more for this "package deal" so I gave it a try. I've played the game one time, it's just not really that fun.
12 months ago @ AmazonThe games of WiiPlay are not quite as good as the original Wii Sports. However, this purchase is a good deal with the remote. Table tennis is relatively difficult to play, the racing cows and tank games are fun, as are the shooting and fishing, although these games are not very advanced.
9 months ago @ AmazonLooking at it as a $10 game, it's not bad. If you have small children, most of the games on here will keep them entertained, but when it is just me or just adults, this one never sees the light of day. I would recommend this to people with small children - otherwise, save your $10 and just get the controller.
12 months ago @ AmazonThe only thing I thought was remotely cute was the cow racing and only for a little while. The fishing is absolutely pathetic but what do you want for a free addition to the Wii?
12 months ago @ AmazonOverall, they just wanted to price the remote a little bit more so they stuck this little disc in, so you'd pay an extra 10 bucks for it!
12 months ago @ Amazonthankfully only paid $10 to get the second controller. it's not a game - it is 'practice' and the player is forced to go through particular rounds to get to the one they might even want to play.
12 months ago @ AmazonMy suggestion is to only buy Wii Play for younger kids who need to learn to use the Wii remote. It will soon become boring to them too.
12 months ago @ AmazonIf you like Wii Sports and think Wii Play is going to be similar, think again. This game is not worth the $10 extra you have to pay to get the remote. The interface is awkward and the games have little replayability.
How it doesn't
click term for excerpts - most relevant excerpts first12 months ago @ AmazonThey spank me mercilessly in everything [except billiards!] and it's incredible -- and discouraging -- to see how much faster their brains work in those games that require quick analysis and decision. Much like the other Nintendo titles that are designed to keep those brain synapses firing, I'm sure several of the games in Wii Play would do wonders for us old folk who are starting to develop a few cobwebs here and there.
12 months ago @ AmazonI got the Wii game for my daughter for Christmas and the entire family has enjoyed it. I am glad that we got the extra remotes so that more than one person can play a game at one time. I highly recommend the Wii game and purchasing additional Wii Play remotes for multiple players!
12 months ago @ AmazonThey love trying to find the Mii the fastest and giggling ensues once they start playing. I realized quickly that it's great for them both, as it helps them to concentrate and look closely. Riding the cows is also a favorite, and I often walk in to find them on the floor laughing so hard they can barely breathe.
11 months ago @ AmazonMy kids are 7 and 5 and love them all, so I can't complain. I actually bought the Wii Play because I needed the extra remote and couldn't find one anywhere, so the games were a bonus.
12 months ago @ AmazonBoy am I glad I did!! The game play on this has been well described already by Bipi101, so I won't redo the description. Needless to say, it didn't hold my attention or my five year old son.
12 months ago @ AmazonNow, we only have 5 games so far, but this is my current favorite! I love most of these games. I enjoy playing them by myself, and also against someone else.
12 months ago @ AmazonIn fact, these are a great introduction to the Wii for non-gaming adults. But you're effectively getting a bunch of simple sports games for only $10 so it's a great value. Definitely better than just getting the controller.
12 months ago @ AmazonThey especially love the skeet shooting game (the end where the aliens show up and try to take the people away has us cracking up every time!). But, my favorite is watching them do the cow races. Too funny!
12 months ago @ AmazonAs I said before, it is a great intro to various methods of controlling the Wii, but honestly, my wife and I enjoyed the cow racing the most. It is silly and simple, but because there is only one race track to go around, the game tires quickly.
12 months ago @ AmazonThis set of games will walk you through all of the controlling basics for the Wii remote. I highly recommend getting this game.
12 months ago @ AmazonWe played them all the night we got them (just to try them out) and I doubt we'll play any of them again. But we love the Wii!
12 months ago @ AmazonLet me start by saying we love the Wii. It was a Christmas gift and since then my husband, son and I have loved playing the Wii sports, we are hooked.
12 months ago @ AmazonThe Wii Sports, now that is totally fun, I am so sore from batting, playing tennis and bowling!
12 months ago @ AmazonNot great games, but 1/4th the price of anything else, and fun enough. Good way to learn the game, and some of the minigames are great fun.
10 months ago @ AmazonThis is a great game for everyone in the family.
12 months ago @ AmazonI wanted an additional controller so we could play each other and I thought 9 other games for $10 was a great deal.
11 months ago @ AmazonSo, like I said, if you're in the market for another controller this is a great choice.
12 months ago @ AmazonI suggest you buy the remote w/o this Wii Play nonsense. Also don't fall for the tricks of sellers everywhere who are writing 14 games...
11 months ago @ AmazonWii Play is definitely worth a purchase. If you're in the market for another Wii Remote, picking this up is a no-brainer.
12 months ago @ AmazonController works great. Games are fairly simple, but LOTS of fun and particularly great for kids playing with parents.
